First Time 47

CONTROL- Nefertari

Spock's eyes discretely traveled to the front of Kirk's tight jeans. Only a slightly raised eyebrow indicated that his brain was working. Yes, the bulge is definitely increased in volume after that voluptuous blonde passed. Interesting.

FROM THE HEART- Jenna Hiliary Sinclair

I value truthfulness in my relationships. In my career, truth hasn't always been possible. I've told the social lie when I've had to, lied willingly to achieve the goals of the Federation on a mission, lied to save lives or to ease pain. And it seems the higher I've climbed through the ranks of Starfleet, the harder it's been to sift the truth from the chaff of the false or the merely expedient. Motivations in any bureaucracy can become muddied, and as just one cog in the Starfleet wheel, I lurk in the shadows too. I sometimes ask myself why I'm out here on my second five year mission: for the glory? for the gain? because I'm making a contribution I believe is important?

RISK WORTH TAKING -Deanna Gray

Kirk walked quickly through the corridors of his ship, oblivious to the crew he passed. He had only one goal:to get to the hanger-bay doors by the time his First Officer and friend emerged.

Trailing behind him was the ship's CMO.

McCoy was feeling guilty about his behavior towards the Vulcan, and he was more than a little anxious to be sure said Vulcan was okay. The doctor also wanted to keep an eye on his young captain for a little bit longer. In addition to the physical strain everyone had felt during the confrontation with the giant amoeba, Kirk had the added pressures of trying to save the ship and stop the amoeba before it destroyed any more planets. There was also the anguish and guilt he had in sending Spock out into that thing. McCoy knew Kirk and Spock shared a special friendship, and lately, well, it seemed .

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE- Nefertari

"Well, Spock, what did you find out? You were gone for ages. I'm really tired of hiding in this unfriendly cave without good and water and anything to warm us up."

"Captain, may I remind you that it was you who has broken the tricorder after our crash-landing, throwing it against the shuttle together with some words that I do not care to repeat."

"Okay, okay, don't be so touchy, First Officer. My foot is hurting like hell and I'm starving. I can't go out because I can't run away and some unfriendly natives will chase us and we won't be able to detect them early because I've broken the tricorder. I know, I know . Now, what did you find out?"

THE WATCHER- Paris Vautrain

He ran, bare feet kicking up showers of coarse sand, leaving a trail of indentations in a zig zag pattern along the deserted beach.... At last, exhausted, the youth sank to his knees, panting and gasping, until his breathing and heart rate slowed to a acceptable level....

He knelt there and gazed at the ocean, so grey and cold, as voices echoed in his head, over and over again, repeating the familiar words....

GETTING WHAT YOU WISHED FOR -Dana Austin Marsh

"You're certain?"

"Of course. That I continue to function is proof. If that doesn't satisfy you, check the computer."

A brief nod after a long silence. "You're right. That was his wish. Even the previous recordings, before they knew what this place truly was, find this wish in his thoughts."

"And the other?"

Another slow nod. "In his thoughts as well. It was the reason he left. Perhaps I was wrong to allow them to use the facilities."

"Spilt milk now."

"But what should be done?"

"You get him back down here, then...."

KALIFEE- Ray Newton & Fiona James

James Kirk was angry, resentful and worried. Angry, because he had expected to enjoy this snatched period of relaxation in a busy schedule; resentful because the pleasure was being spoiled for him; and worried because Spock, the cause of his uneasiness, flatly refused to admit that anything was wrong.

From his perch high on the hillside, he could see his First Officer wandering, apparently aimlessly, along the river bank below; then the Vulcan paused, seemed to hesitate, folded his long legs and sank down to sit gazing over the water.

CARNIVAL NIGHT- Corey Fauer

"Captain," Spock said, "I fail to see the purpose for a carnival on the Enterprise."

"That's because you have no imagination."

"Doctor, I was addressing the Captain," Spock said. "Please refrain from answering questions direct to other parties."

Kirk sighed....

SONG OF THE LEA -Karen Dates

"Tevnian, Clarish...get the Ambassador to pod one. Bones, help Uhura with Lord Yheryss, I want him in pod two."

Kirk spat out directions even as he realized that there was no way they were going to get down in one piece. There was smoke, sparks and the acrid odor of burning circuits filling the shuttle.
